DSE “Equipped” Rides Take Five out of the Top Ten Spots at the Goodguys Autocross at Beech Bend
Mooresville, NC – The Goodguys 4th Nostalgia Nationals packed it all into one weekend. There was the increasingly popular Goodguys Autocross that ran all three days, the Goodguys Vintage Drags and to top it all off, it was an All-American weekend which opens the show up to any American made or powered vehicles of any year.
It was a beautiful weekend for racing and the autocross kicked off bright and early Friday morning. Kyle Tucker, driving his DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car was eager to get on the track and hopefully add to his Goodguys Pro Class points lead. DSE engineer, Ryan Mathews, was also out on the track. This time though he wasn’t a company man, Ryan drove his personal Detroit Speed “Equipped” 1969 Camaro from Mooresville to the show to compete in the autocross. Kyle and Ryan both ran great the entire weekend with Kyle claiming 2nd place and Ryan just +0.078 behind Kyle in 3rd place. We would like to congratulate Tyler Powell who finished 1st in the Pro Class with his 1963 Chevy Corvette. Since Tyler and Kyle both have already qualified for the Goodguys Autocross Shootout taking place in Scottsdale in November, Ryan was awarded the spot. With Kyle’s 2nd place finish he was able to increase his overall Goodguys Pro Class lead heading into the final three Goodguys Autocross events before the finals.
Ryan and Kyle weren’t the only DSE “Equipped” cars having fun on the autocross, five out of the top ten Pro Class finishers were DSE “Equipped” including Brian Finch who finished in 5th place. Not only were five out of ten DSE “Equipped” but three out of the top 5 were riding on the BFGoodrich Rival S tires.
This was a great event that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Next up for the crew is a stop on our home turf for the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals right in our backyard at Charlotte Motor Speedway. If you are in the area make sure to stop by Detroit Speed for our annual Open House kick off party the Friday night after the show.
